Short trip to Nestos' Delta, Kavala

Nestos' Delta is one of the most important wetlands of Greece, a few kilometers east of the city of Kavala. River Nestos is one of the 5 biggest rivers in Greece, creating a broad delta of a dense riparian forest, covering 450 hectares, the only natural riparian forest of its size left in Greece. There are two information centers, one in Chrysoupoli and one in Nea Karya, close to Keramoti port.
I had the chance to birdwatch for an hour around the information center of Nea Karya, on a hot sunny day of July 12th 2005. The bird list is the following:

Little Egret, Grey Heron, White Stork, Short-toed Eagle, Buzzard, Yellow-legged Gull, Collared Dove, Turtle Dove, Swallow, House Martin, Bee-eater, Roller, Hoopoe, Crested Lark, Blackbid, Great Tit, Cetti's Warbler, Red-backed Shrike, Starling, Jay, Magpie, Chaffinch
