Limnos Island

The island of Limnos is placed in the northern part of Aegean sea, just above Lesvos. The greatest peak is only 300 meters high, but the islands greatest attraction is its wetlands. Almost every beach or goalf is a estuary, with swallow waters and extensive area of mud, with freshwater combining with seawater. Moreover, Lesser Kestrels & Eleonorae's Falcon are some of the most common birds of the island! Every day, onw can see over 50 Lesser Kestrels, perching on wires, very close to the streets and buildings. Eleonorae's Falcons fly over our heads, and each day we recordered 20-30 of them. Especially on the island in front of Thanos beach, a small colony is formed.
This bird trip was from 13-20 August 2006.
The most important birds from the trip are: Yelkouan Shearwater, Cory's Shearwater, Flamingo, Lesser Kestrel, Eleonorae's Falcon, Auduin's Gull, Chukar, Alpine Swift, Pallid Swift, Spotted Flycatcher, Scopw Owl, Little Owl, Bee-eater, Olivaceous Warbler, Subalpine Warbler, Black-eared Wheatear, Northern Wheatear, Red-backed Shrike, Woodchat Shrike, Great Grey Shrike
