Schinias National Park - Εθνικό Πάρκο Σχινιά-Μαραθώνα

This year's spring is one of the best of the last years at Schinias National Park, just a few km out of Athens. There is a lot of water in the marshes, so lots of waders have preferred to rest for some days in the area. Highlight of the day: Jack Snipe (Lymnocryptes minimus) - Κουφομπουκάτσινο

The most interesting sightings of Saturday, April 10th were:
Ferruginous Ducks (18), Marsh Harrier, Purple Heron (2), Squacco Heron (30), Little Egret (100), Glossy Ibis (80), Jack Snipe (1), Spotted Redshank (1), Cretzschmar's Bunting, Black-eared Wheatear, Woodchat Shrike, Zitting Cisticola

Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea) - Πορφυροτσικνιάς

Ferruginous Duck (Aythya nyroca) - Βαλτόπαπια

Wood Sandpiper

Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinelus) - Χαλκόκοτα

Glossy ibises with Little Egrets

A nice covered spot, full of birds, just beside the houses

Spotted Redshank (Tringa erythropus) - Μαυρότρυγγας

Nice Cretschmar's Bunting (Emberiza caesia) - Φρυγανοτσίχλονο

Starling, with summer plumage (yellow bill)

Cetti's Warbler (Cettia cetti) - Ψευταηδόνι

Zitting Cisticola or Fan-tailed Warbler (Cisticola juncidis) - Κιστικόλη

Beware of running Foxes!
