Long-legged Specialty

The Long-legged Buzzard (Buteo rufinus) - Αετογερακίνα, is a rather widespread but scarce breeding raptor. Migratory in the north and resident in the south, it's usually seen in open areas with sparse vegetation, avoiding forests and dense maquis. Several pairs can be found near Athens, while it is alco common in the adjacent areas of Voiotia and Evia. This adult was seen in Lake Dystos, south Evia, during the mid-winter counts on 22nd January, 2011.
