Succesfull breeding of Ruddy Shelducks in Naxos Island, Cyclades

Succesfull breeding of Ruddy Shelducks was confirmed yesterday at Naxos Saltpans (Alykes), Naxos being the largest island of the Cycladic complex in the Aegean sea.
11 nestlings that will soon learn how to fly, together with the two parents were observed by Giannis Gavalas, an avid birder living in the nearby islet of Iraklia. Giannis send us two pics with the whole family!
Ruddy Shelducks were often seen in the island, but their breeding is now confirmed.
