Birdwatching in Athens: The Rufous Bush Robin has returned!

May has arrived and along with it the Rufous Bush Robin. Perhaps the latest arrival of the summer visitors, its present breeding distribution is confined to a narrow stretch of land close to the Athens International Airport...Several years ago, it was somewhat more widespread and common but for reasons yet unknown it has declined seriously, even though its preferred habitat hasn't been altered....We hope that the species will recover in the future and will continue to perform his unique song in the vineyards and groves of Eastern Attica...

Rufous Bush Robins prefer open agricultural land with sparse trees
