Relapsing Lapwings

Lapwings used to be a common European breeder but its populations have crashed in many countries. Greece was known to hold very few pairs in the summer and the wintering numbers have also become smaller. This autumn, however, the sighting of more than 130 birds - most of them juvs - in a single flooded field in Evros Delta, gives hopes for the future of this once common wader.
